Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Database Designer to join our dynamic team in a fully remote capacity. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in crafting and developing databases that support vital business applications. While your main concentration will be on business intelligence solutions, you will also engage with other critical systems. Collaboration with our DBA team, application developers, business analysts, and end-users will be key to understanding their requirements and building efficient, scalable databases. Additionally, you will assist in performance optimization and troubleshooting database-related challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with DBA teams, developers, analysts, and end-users to assess needs and propose effective solutions.
- Design and implement database structures, including tables, views, stored procedures, and other essential objects.
- Diagnose data and performance issues, offering solutions to enhance efficiency.
- Act as the liaison between the application development team and the DBA support team.
- Ensure adherence to corporate change management protocols.
- Provide support for data integration initiatives and assist with ETL and report development as required.
Required Skills
- 7-10 years of direct experience in relational database development, including the design of tables, views, stored procedures, and complex queries.
- 5-7 years of expertise in database design and modeling for both relational and analytical systems.
- 5-7 years of experience in building databases within Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse environments.
- Profound knowledge of MS SQL Server database design and development.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of various Software Development Lifecycles (Waterfall, Agile, Iterative, etc.).
- Experience with Erwin Data Modeling software.
- Familiarity with modern database/storage technologies such as Azure, Data Lakes, and NoSQL (preferred).
- Experience with PowerBI modeling and report writing (preferred).
- Knowledge of ETL technologies and IBM DB2 (preferred).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
- Professional certification in database management or a related field is considered a plus.
